In 2024, we carried out arboricultural maintenance works on one of Hungary’s oldest European hackberry (Celtis australis) tree avenues, located in the Botanical Garden of the University of Pécs. The stand consists of 18 trees, approximately 80–100 years old, and holds significant professional value.
All works were preceded by a detailed tree assessment, based on which the necessary interventions were determined individually for each tree. During the execution, we primarily performed pruning and deadwood removal, taking into account the age, condition, and environmental context of the trees.
The project was completed in a single day by a team of 20 professional arborists, both international and Hungarian, using rope access (climbing) techniques. Full green waste management was provided on-site, including wood chipping and site clearance.
In the case of two trees, due to their proximity to the sports hall entrance and their structural condition, crown bracing systems were installed to ensure long-term safety.
The project attracted significant professional attention: the President of the Hungarian Arboricultural Association, as well as representatives of the local press, were present.
